A fight between two men ends with one dead and the other behind bars.
“I was just closing up my shop and I saw a couple of young men arguing and everything. I didn’t really pay attention to it, just decided to close up and go home,” said David Alvarez.
Alvarez works at Boost Mobile along Center Square in Hanover. He says when he arrived to work Saturday morning, he found out the fight he heard and saw unfold the night before, had a tragic ending.
It happened shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Friday along Center Square. Hanover Borough Police say during a fight, 24-year-old Colin Hafer from Harrisburg pulled out a pistol and fatally shot 20-year-old Shawn Jarvis.
“It’s really sad, I mean, your life hasn’t even started; you’re just starting your life, and it gets taken away by someone like that,” Alvarez added.
Friends of the victim visited the scene Saturday, leaving behind flowers and balloons in honor of Jarvis.
Alvarez says this is the first time he’s heard of this type of violence taking place nearby.
“It gets businesses on their toes; gets you kind of worried about it. I don’t want my employees to be in danger either. We’re just hoping that things get back to normal and everybody can be calm again,” he said.
Hafer has been charged with murder and remains behind bars at the York County Jail.
