Celebrating life, that’s what a Dauphin County hospice is helping families do through a special event. Families gathered for a live butterfly release at the Five Senses Garden in Harrisburg. The event was hosted by Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and it allowed family members who made a 25-dollar donation, to release Painted Lady butterflies in honor of lost loved ones.

“People are here because they want to remember someone who has been special in their life. It’s a good event for us, it allows us to raise some funds that we use for people who are unable to pay for their care or don’t have insurance,” said Gill Brown, CEO of Central PA Hospice.

Families also remembered their loved one with inspirational readings and music. Hospice of Central Pennsylvania serves more than 1200 patients in their homes, senior care facilities and hospitals each year.
