World famous golfer and Pennsylvanian Arnold Palmer made a special visit to Lancaster on Saturday. Palmer was joined by Governor Tom Corbett and other leaders for a special announcement outside the downtown Visitor’s Center on West King Street.
Palmer announced that the Lancaster Country Club will host next year’s U.S. Women’s Open.
The Open is one of the premiere events of the U.S. Golf Association. It will be a huge event for the area, providing a boost to the economy with more than 110,000 spectators expected to attend.
Governor Corbett says, “It’s going to drive the economy here in a very positive method, and I think that’s good for the economy, we continue to look to grow that, but it recognizes Pennsylvania as a good home for golf.”
Some of the world’s best female golfers will take part in the U.S. Women’s Open.
It will be held one year from now, July 6th through 12th, 2015.
