Fire destroys attached garage, damages East Manchester Twp. home

The fire of the 400 block of Park Street in East Manchester Township started Tuesday around 10:00 a.m.  York Area United Fire Chief Joe Madzelan says the homeowner went to start his car in the garage which ignited the fire.  The cause is under investigation, but the chief says it’s likely the car had mechanical problems.  The flames were contained to the garage.  Three cars inside were destroyed.  The home received extensive smoke and water damage.  Three firefighters were treated on the scene for heat exposure.

Fire destroyed an attached garage at a home in East Manchester Township on Tuesday morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of Park Street around 10:10 a.m.

Fire officials said the attached garage was destroyed and part of the home was damaged in the blaze.

So far, no word on what caused the fire.
