Police say the victim in a fatal crash involving two cars in Lancaster County early this afternoon was Meredith Demko, 18, of West Lampeter Township. She was driving a Toyota Prius. Township police say the driver of the other car, a VW Jetta was Thomas Gallagher, Jr., 29, of New Providence.
Witnesses told investigators that the Jetta was being driven in a reckless manner southbound on Lampeter Road just prior to the crash. The Jetta crossed the centerline and struck the Prius head on.
Demko was pronounced dead on arrival at Lancaster General Hospital. Gallagher is hospitalized in stable condition. Two passengers in Gallagher’s car were treated and released.
Police say their investigation continues.
