The Can-Am Games officially kick off on Monday, but the friendly competition has already begun.
On Sunday afternoon, teams went head to head to see who could cook the best pot of chili.

The contestants, including a firefighter from Montgomery County, Maryland and a Deputy with the York County Sheriff’s Office, made their signature dishes at the York Expo Center.

It was a close competition, but in the end, first place went to York County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Leveck. He says he’s happy to take home the gold, but at the end of the day the camaraderie is the best part.

“For the next week we have the chance of meeting fellow police officers, firefighters, first responders, and to just come together; it’s a common bond kind of thing,” Leveck says.

All the proceeds from the Can-Am Games, including the chili cook-off will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.
