Dozens of firefighters at the scene of a multi-alarm fire at High Steel Structures, Inc. in Lancaster County. The fire broke out at about 7:52 pm at the huge steel fabricating facility in the 100 block of Greenfield Road in East Lampeter Township.
Heavy smoke and flames from the interior of the building were reported by the first fire crews that arrived on the scene. There were also reports of explosions. Fire crews were being held outside the building for safety reasons.
About 70 employees inside the plant escaped safely. A State Police Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
