Thief breaks into Stewartstown trailer, heats up soup in microwave

Police are trying to figure out who is responsible for a number of break-ins and vehicle thefts in southern York County over the weekend.

Officers responded to a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning on Winterstown Road in North Hopewell Township after the driver fled the scene. Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from Ecker Avenue in Stewartstown overnight.

Police said multiple vehicles were also broken into along Ecker Avenue and Trout Lane. The brazen thief even went so far as to break into a camper and fix themselves a bowl of soup by heating it the microwave, investigators said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities at 717-235-3944.

Police remind residents to ensure they lock their vehicles and remove valuables when they are unattended.
