New lights will shine over Front Street in Harrisburg

Mayor of Harrisburg, Eric Papenfuse accepted a $22,000 check Friday morning to fix the lights on Front Street. The money came from the recent 5K charity glow run that brought hundreds of people to the city. Mayor Papenfuse accepted the check at a ceremony in front of Dixon University, which will be better lit thanks to the new lights.

Papenfuse said the lights are badly needed. “Lighting, because it’s so important to public safety and public perception is really key,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “And, it’s the one improvement that we can make that will immediately save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.” The money will be used to fix the light poles first, before the installation of the new LED lights.
