Last week, a couple was in their home in the two thousand block of Red Bank Road when their attacker, Tre Easter, walked up to them and pulled out a handgun. According to police, Easter allegedly demanded a safe that was inside the home. It was at that time the homeowner tackled him to the ground.

Both Easter and someone with him took off. The Newberry Township Chief of Police said calling 911 is always the best thing to do during a burglary, but not the only move. “You have a right to protect yourself and your family,” Police Chief John Snyder said. “If someone is trying to come in and do you harm or your family harm you absolutely have a right to protect yourself at whatever level.”

Police later arrested Easter and charged him robbery, simple assault and burglary.
