Residents and business owners on Second Street in Harrisburg are unhappy about the new parking fees in the city. Rocco Roma is closing his restaurant, Zia’s and he said parking played a role.

Mayor of Harrisburg, Eric Papenfuse said there are more people parking in Harrisburg than ever before. “Revenue projections from the City standpoint are higher than ever,” Mayor Eric Papenfuse said. “We’re going to have more money come in from our parking system now than before.”

However, some people still are not happy with the new system. “It was a pain in the butt,” Harrisburg resident Rebecca Marcum said. “It didn’t work actually.” “A quarter is going to get you five minutes,” said Harrisburg resident Chris Siennick. “But that’s like three dollars an hour. That’s pretty pricey. I wouldn’t pay it.” Papenfuse said that increasing the parking fee was crucial in helping pull Harrisburg out of debt.
