Several people were recognized for their hard work, including the team from the Make-A-Wish Foundation which is where all the proceeds from the games will be donated.

Organizers say they’re proud of the community for embracing the week-long games and for making the competitors feel so welcomed.

“We had over 400 volunteers come out give their time and help make these games a success, to welcome the firefighters and police officers, to cheer on the EMS competitors and those athletes know that’s genuine,” said Anne Druck, the president of the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

At Sunday’s ceremony, the torch was also passed over to organizers from Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is where the Can-Am Police-Fire games will be hosted in 2016.
