Police investigate fatal West Earl Township crash

A Coatsville man is dead following an early morning crash in West Earl Township.

According to police a 22-year-old man was driving west on Peace Road when his Pontiac Grand Prix left the road for unknown reasons and slammed into a tree head on. The crash happened on Peace Road near North Maple Avenue just before 2:00 a.m.

The driver was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the identity of the driver pending notification to the family.

Police are investigating if speed was a factor due to the amount of damage done to the vehicle.
