Friends and family speak out about York homicide victim
Dashaun Davis was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car on Union Street when he was shot on Saturday night.
The family says they are too upset to speak on camera, and the friend who knew Davis his whole life spoke for them.
“Everyone who knew him, liked him, loved him, and that’s how he should be remembered, not by this violent act that occurred,” says a close family friend.
Of the person responsible, she says, “They should pay the price, they should do whatever time they need to do, because they took a life away.”
The York County Coroner performed the autopsy on Monday, confirming that Davis was shot several times and died on scene.
Now candles and messages make up a memorial next to the place where he died.
“Oh, it’s heartbreaking,” says friend Ashley Young, who lives across the street from where Davis was shot. “Knowing it’s right here at my house, and he just lives right here around the corner.”
“I just bless his family, hope they can get through it,” she adds.
Davis’s family says they are currently making funeral plans but there is no date set yet.
Police are asking anyone with information on the crime to come forward.
