Calif. man, 80, fatally shot ‘pregnant’ home intruder

LONG BEACH, Calif-  Police in California are expected to consider whether to file charges against a 80-year-old man who shot and killed a female burglar who claimed she was pregnant as she fled from his Long Beach home earlier this week.

Tom Greer, 80, of Long Beach, Calif, told police that when he arrived at his home on Tuesday night, he was assaulted by a man and a woman who were allegedly inside burglarizing his home, according to reports by our sister station KTLA.

Greer then opened fire inside his home and again outside as both suspects fled the scene with items taken from the home, reports KTLA. The female was struck by gunfire and died at the scene.

She was later identified as 28-year-old Andrea Miller of Long Beach. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office was working to determine whether or not Miller was pregnant.

The male suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gus Adams of Long Beach, was later arrested and was being held on charges of murder and residential robbery, KTLA wrote.

Adams was being held on more than $1 million bail.

Greer told police his home had been burglarized before, and he believed the two suspects were responsible for the prior incidents.

Police told KTLA, both Adams and Miller had criminal histories.

Filing charges against him would be a bullshit move. She obviously felt no qualms about putting the possible fetus in harms way, why should the older gentleman be placed in a position requiring him to care about whether she was pregnant or not? This is just another case of criminals having "rights". Our criminal system is such a joke.

If you read the main story she actually didn't have problems repeated beating the elderly even after her partner went back to trying to break into his safe to steal valuables. Both ran like chicken!@#$'s when they were presented with force equal to the violence they were belting out. It's only unfortunate that both weren't shot while still face to face with him in his home. Clearly both individuals were dangerous repeat offenders.

Maybe if more people took action about protecting their property, IT IS THE LAW, then maybe we wouldn't have some many home invasions. Criminals might smarten up and not break into houses. She wasn't pregnant. She was in the wrong. An 80 year old man against 2 invaders is not and even fight. He did what he felt he needed to protect his home. Pregnant or not she shouldn't have been there.. She was breaking the law. There used to be a time when you could shoot some one for trespassing on your property period. When we can no longer protect what is ours then our justice system has gone to s**t. We might as well welcome people to steal from us and kill us in our homes. A criminal is a criminal they need to be punished law abiding citizens should note have to pay for a criminals stupidness and law breaking ways especially if they fear for their lives. I am sure that those criminals knowing that he was an older man figured that he was an easy mark and if he hadn't pulled his gun and shot I am sure that they would have came back to try again or even worse, killed him there an then in the act of their crime just to get what they wanted.
