Heart of Harrisburg Church hosts Back to School Bash

It may still be summer break for some students, but local communities what to make sure kids are ready to head back to school when the time comes.

The Heart of Harrisburg Church held its 2nd annual Back to School Bash in Harrisburg which included a backpack giveaway.

The church– giving out more than 300 bags with school supplies inside.

Organizers say they want to show that good things are happening in the Allison Hill neighborhood.

“We’re trying to provide an atmosphere where children and their families can come to a place and feel loved and feel appreciated and can step away from whatever is going on in their own personal lives,” Heart of Harrisburg Church Lead Pastor Ricardo Volcy said.

Local churches and businesses helped support the event with donations. The bash also gave away food and clothing.
