Campers in Dauphin County are cooling off to help Americans and Israelis who are serving in the Israeli Defense Forces.
With every lap, comes care for soldiers.
Camper, Rebecca Freedman says, “We’re doing something really good and helping people from Israel.”
Freedman joins other JCC Summer Campers at Green Hills to raise more than $1000 in a day long swim-a-thon.
Freedman says, “The Israeli soldiers don’t have much stuff so we’re doing a swim-a-thon to raise money for them to have food, toiletries and clothing.”
Former IDF Soldier, Tomer Moscovici, says, “It warms my heart to see the kids do care and they know the IDF is doing an important job.”
Five months ago, Tomer finished his 3-year service in the IDF.
“The IDF is the most moral army, human loving army in the world,” says Tomer.
He’s proud to share his pride with campers this summer.
When the campers finish their laps, Tomer says it’s a lesson learned,”They need to realize there’s something going on. That there is a conflict and soldiers are fighting in order to keep Israel safe, to keep civilians safe.”
Campers hope you’ll contribute to the cause long after they’re done swimming laps.
