Governor Tom Corbett orders all United States and Pennsylvania flags at the Capitol Complex and at Commonwealth facilities in Northumberland County to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, August 5, in honor of Captain Theodore “Dutch” VanKirk.
VanKirk, 93, of Northumberland, was the navigator of the U.S. B-29 Super-fortress, Enola Gay, during World War II.
Flags shall remain at half-staff until sundown Tuesday, the day of VanKirk’s interment.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.
