Giving rescued pets and vintage clothing a second chance… that’s the goal of a  thrift store in Harrisburg.

The shop is called “Stash”, and it’s owners teamed up with the locally owned pet store Abrams & Weakley to hold the “Shop and Adopt” benefit at its North Street location to support the Humane Society of Harrisburg.

People could come out and not only shop for clothing but to meet pups from the humane society– all looking for a forever home.

“We think it’s important because there are so many unwanted pets, and in my opinion I don’t think there’s a need  to keep making more and I really do believe in spaying and neutering your pets and there are such wonder animals to be found at many of the rescues in Central Pennsylvania, ” Abrams & Weakley owner Kristen Zellner said.

Gift baskets for dogs and cats  were given away in raffles. They included gift cards to the stores taking part in the event.

Half of all proceeds from the event are going to the Humane Society.
