Firefighters responding to a predawn brushfire in Berks County discover the body of a woman. They arrived on the scene shortly after 5:14 am to find a vehicle engulfed in flames. The victim is identified as Kathryn Ercolino, 71, of Quakertown. Her body was discovered inside the burnt out vehicle.

According to a preliminary investigation Ercolino had become lost and ended up in Toad Creek, in Topton Community Park, Topton Borough about 10 miles northeast of Reading. Nearby residents reported hearing a motor racing overnight. The revving motor caused the catalytic converter to heat up starting the fire. An autopsy determined that Ercolino died from burns and smoke inhalation.
