A Michigan woman is alive today, thanks to Officer Jason Gates.  On Saturday, officer Gates pulled over a car for a red light violation, but when he walked up to the vehicle he could see the driver was in distress.

At first he said he thought she may have been trying to get out of the ticket, but then he realized she was choking.

Video from his car’s dash cam shows Officer Gates performing the Heimlich maneuver on the woman and the food was quickly dislodged.

The woman can be seen crying and hugging Officer Gates, and he let her go without a ticket.

However, eating while driving is a distraction that could result in a wreck. It's not illegal but a risk that in this case could have resulted in a wreck and her asphyxiation. All is well but the moral of the story is do not eat and drive.
