Virginia deputy shoots teenage daughter sneaking back into home

A Virginia sheriff’s deputy shoots his teenage daughter when he mistook her for an intruder reports The Washington Post.

Easton McDonald’s home security system alerted him to the garage door opening. McDonald heard noises coming from the garage, and when the door opened he shot his weapon.

Upon hearing the girl’s voice, he realized he had shot his 16-year-old daughter that was sneaking back into their home.

The girl was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

McDonald is on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
