Man Found Dead on the Sidewalk

Police are investigating a homicide in York City early Monday. Officers responded to the 300 block of W. King Street around 6 a.m. for a report of a man down. But the victim had been shot and killed hours before.

Hezekiah Walker, 23, was found dead at the scene. Investigators say Walker was shot multiple times.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots around 2:30 am. Almost all the neighbors we spoke with had heard them.

Some said they didn’t come to the window.

“It always happens, but nobody noticed, nobody came out to see it,” says Jessica Rodriguez, who adds that she fears for her children’s safety in the area.

Edward Daniels, who did look outside, couldn’t see Walker’s body on the other side of the street.

“There was two loud gunshots and it woke us out of our sleep,” he says, “So I got out and looked out the window. Nobody was here, nobody was out.”

Witnesses saw gunshot wounds in Walker’s head and leg. Police found bullet casings about a half block down from the body.

The York County Coroner says Walker lived in Columbia, but he grew up in York, where his adoptive mother lives.

No arrests have been made.
