Two employees of a Hanover spa are charged with prostitution after a three week investigation by police. It happened at Sakara Spa, located at 398 York Street, Suite 11, in Hanover. Hanover Borough Police Detectives and York County Drug Task Force investigators got wind of the advertised massage services actually serving as a front to the prostitution-related activities.
Investigators conducted undercover surveillance activities at the business. Two undercover police officers went into the spa and were met by Zhiying Li, age 58, and Jinlian Zeng, age 51. Police say both women offered the police officers sex acts for money. The women were paid cash by the undercover officers who left the business before any sex acts occurred. These solicitations led to a search warrant being issued for 398 York Street, Suite 11.
On Monday afternoon, August 18, 2014, investigators entered the business to execute the search warrant. Li and Zeng were both taken into custody and charged with prostitution. The investigation revealed that both women were living at the business location. During the search, investigators located large quantities of condoms, towels, massage beds, and a washer and dryer. Also located was just over $11,000 cash.
Li and Zeng were transported to the York County Sheriff’s Department where they were later arraigned on the prostitution charges. Both were committed to York County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
