An attempted child luring incident in Red Lion Borough, York County. It happened last Thursday, August 14, at about 3:45 pm along the 200 block of South Charles Street in the borough.

York Area Regional Police say a dark red or maroon color work type van with a dull finish, passed a 13 year old girl and someone inside yelled “Hey baby” in her direction.  The driver then pulled over to the side of the street and stopped. A male in the passenger side seat unfastened his seatbelt.  He was heard telling the driver to unlock the doors and then said “Get in my van” to the girl.

The girl ran into a home nearby and called her mother. The van then left the area.

According to the girl, the van had white letters on the side and possibility a phone number that may have been peeling off. The letters were in such poor condition, the girl was unsure what they said.

The person in the passenger seat was described as a white male, about 30 years old, short dark hair, mustache, possibly a goatee. He wore glasses or sunglasses and looked dirty like he had just gotten off work. The driver of the van was either a male or female and had blonde hair.

Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to contact York Area Regional Police at (717) 741-1259.
