Elderly Shrewsbury woman victim of distraction burglary

Police say an elderly woman in Shrewsbury is the victim of a distraction burglary. It happened on August 15th on Essex Circle Drive. The victim told police an Hispanic female came to her door claiming to be in the tree trimming business. The suspect distracted the victim while an Hispanic male entered the residence and stole items. The victim saw the male suspect leaving through the garage at the time of the incident. The subjects stole cash from inside the residence. The suspects were last seen leaving the area in a white SUV with the lift gate open. The woman used the business name of Tri-State Tree Service. Anyone with information in regards to this couple is asked to call the Southern Regional Police Department at 717-235-3944.

Residents are reminded that people soliciting in their neighborhood should have identification on them stating who they work for and who they are.
