A Chambersburg teenager is charged with criminal homicide in the death of a 3-month-old baby girl, police said.
Investigators said Rosanna Desinor, 18, hit the baby several times because she was “crying too much” while in her care.
Police were called to a home along the first block of North Third Street on Aug. 20 around 12:21 a.m. for a report of a unresponsive baby girl.
The child was taken to Chambersburg hospital where she was pronounced dead. Hospital staff said the baby had visible wounds, including bruising and abrasions to her head and body, court documents state.
An autopsy revealed the baby had a fractured skull and died of blunt force trauma.
Investigators said the baby, who was not related to Desinor, was left in her care on Wednesday.
During an interview with police, Desinor said she was unable to get the baby stop stop crying and lost her temper. According to court documents, Desinor said she hit the baby numerous times and then dropped the baby after the infant’s head struck a banister.
Desinor told police she attempted to perform CPR but was unsuccessful at reviving the child. Afterwards–she left the baby and went to her own room where she fell asleep, court documents state.
The baby was later discovered by two other people who were in the home.
Desinor was arrested and taken to Franklin County Prison without bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
