Fishing is a fun and inexpensive way to spend time outdoors. Now families can fish for a reduced price on Labor Day.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has lowered the price of a fishing license on Labor Day to just under $3 (the license is $1, the issuing agent charges $1, and there is a $0.70 transaction fee). The one-day license allows anyone – including out-of-state residents – to fish in Pennsylvania on Labor Day.
The Fish and Boat also is offering a mentored youth fishing day on 17 different panfish enhancement lakes throughout Pennsylvania.
A spokesman for the Fish and Boat Commission says the reduced license and the mentored youth program are designed to remind people that fishing is a year-round sport and doesn’t end after trout or bass season or when kids return to school.
