15-year-old girl behind the wheel of deadly wreck in Wayne County

PAUPACK TOWNSHIP — Officials say a 15-year-old unlicensed driver was behind the wheel for a deadly crash in Wayne County this past weekend.

The girl is from New York but her father owns a home in Wayne County reports WNEP.

The girl got behind the wheel of her parents car without permission and picked up a 16-year-old friend and four boys for breakfast.

On their way back she lost control of the car and Ryan Lesher, Shamus Digney and Cullen Keffer — sophomores at Council Rock South High School near Philadelphia — were killed.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

She has more to worry about then stealing her fathers car. Now she has vehicular manslaughter to worry about if found guilty for the crash. Parents should not have to hide their keys. Kids should be taught from little up that everything you do has some consequence and that you have to be prepared to deal with what it may be.

I couldn’t blame the parents either. I haven’t met a single person who was afraid to lay their car keys on the table overnight. These accidents are sadly very common for this age group.

The problem is with teens not assessing the risks of their action. You can spot them any day racing, going over double yellow lines and not caring where speeding is more of a risk than just getting a ticket. They just seem to perceive all this as fun and cool, thinking they can control any situation and always perceive that they’re doing it differently than “those people” on the news…

Please…like all of you are saints… act like you never snuck out of the house, or drove a car before you got your drivers license. This girl has to live with what she did for the rest of her life I think thats punishment enough. So stop with the negative comments about what the PARENTS should have done.

    This
comment is in response to Adrienne’s comment .I did not sneak out of the house or drive a car till I was of legal age because I new that if I did I would have got the crap beat out of me .I think a lot of it has to do with per pressure and wanting people to think you are cool , lack of self worth.
