COOLING DOWN

An approaching cold front continues the bring showers and thunderstorms through the evening. The severe weather threat subsides early in evening, leaving showers and a few thunderstorms to clear out through the night. As the front exits the region, cooler and less humid air pushes into the Lower Susquehanna Valley late. Lows fall into the 50s to lower 60s by daybreak. High pressure returns for Sunday, bringing a return to fair weather throughout the region. Northerly winds keep the cool air in place, with high temperatures only reaching the 70s.

STAYING QUIET

High pressure remains in control through the beginning of the week, with cool temperatures continuing as well. Monday, some afternoon clouds bubble up with highs in the lower to middle 70s. Tuesday, high pressure slides off to the northeast. A disturbance forming off of the Mid-Atlantic coast will work with the high to produce an easterly flow. This keeps some clouds in the forecast. Temperatures should remain below average in the 70s. By Wednesday, expect a warmer day, but the humidity also increases. Highs will be near 80 degrees.

NEXT STORM CHANCE, FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER COOL DOWN

A very potent cold front by September standards swings down into the region, bringing our next chance for showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. Unseasonably cool air begins to arrive Friday. This holds afternoon high temperatures in the 70s. Clouds bubble up during the afternoon hours too. By Saturday, we could be experiencing temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s once the unseasonably cool air mass settles over our area. Having so much cool air aloft this time of year will quickly bubble up plenty of clouds by the afternoon.

Have a great night!
