Hundreds of local motorcycle riders made a special trip on Saturday in honor of military heroes. The bikers gathered at Dallastown High School in York County for the "Fallen Hero Ride."
The trek, from Dallastown to Marietta, Lancaster County and back, was in honor of two Dallastown graduates who were killed in separate incidents in Afghanistan.
First Lieutenant Daren Hidalgo served in the U.S. Army; while Sergeant Christopher Wrinkle was a U.S. Marine.
Jorge Hidalgo, Daren's father said, "We owe them a debt of gratitude that we can never repay, these are two young men, very bright, their futures ahead of them that gave their lives in defense of our freedoms, the nation needed them and they said send me."
When asked about the crowd of bikes in attendance at the ride, Chris Wrinkle's mother Joan Snyder said, "I think it's great that they're here to support all of this, not just Chris but Hidalgo as well, it is a community affair and it should be, it really should be because Chris was this community."
Proceeds from the ride will benefit the U.S. War Dog Association to help train military working dogs, as well as the Dallastown High School Wrestling and Junior ROTC Programs.
