Giant store managers say Sunday evening around 6:30, a foot long alligator was found hiding near the banana bin of the produce department.
Middletown Police officers responded. But no one had any idea how the gator got there. Eventually, a customer came forward and said her 3-year old son put their pet into her purse before shopping. She then opened her purse and the gator got out.
Shoppers say they're glad they weren't here on Sunday!
Police say they returned the alligator to its owner. No alligators have ever been spotted at Giant before.
