PENBROOK (WPMT)-A man is behind bars accused of burglarizing a pizza shop in Penbrook early Wednesday, police said.

Omar Pope, 26, of Harrisburg is charged with burglary and resisting arrest. He was taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Officers were called to Roberto’s Pizza along the 2500 block of Walnut Street around 2:15 a.m. for a reported burglary.

A short time later authorities found Pope nearby in possession of items that were taken during the burglary. According to police, Pope tried to flee from officers and then resisted arrest.

During the investigation–police learned Pope was also responsible for a burglary on Sept. 23 at the S&K Corner store in Penbrook.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 15.
