In the race for the 28th Pennsylvania State Senate Seat, Democrat Linda Small and Republican incumbent Scott Wagner took part in a debate Wednesday afternoon which was hosted by the Rotary Club of York.

The two candidates discussed several topics during the forum at the Yorktown Hotel in York, including job creation, tax increases, and education.

"It's very important that we restore state funding for education, that we get to work on good jobs, that we raise the minimum wage to  ten-ten , and that we end the unfair and sustainable property taxes. Those are the big issues for this election." Small said.

The long-time York County resident and retired U. S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer says she's against increasing local taxes while cutting school programs.

York County native Wagner-- who was elected by write-in to serve the remainder of the term left vacant by late Senator Mike Waugh-- wants voters to know that the state still faces unresolved issues.

"The number one issue is school taxes, that hasn't changed. We still have a pension crisis and we have a 60 billion dollar shortfall that we have to deal with, and as I work in my district and talk with my constituents, again it's school taxes and pensions." Wagner said.

The 28th State senate Seat covers a large part of York County including the City of York.

The election will be held on November 4th.
