CHAMBERSBURG, PA(WPMT)- A Franklin County woman is charged 3rd Degree Murder in the death of 7 year old Robert “Billy” Travis.  Michele Renae Hunter is already serving a 9 to 20 year prison term after her conviction last February on charges of Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Her step son was four years old on March 15, 2011 he suffered severe head trauma at the hands of Hunter.  The child was then known as William “Billy” Hunter, Jr.  He was subsequently adopted by the Travis family.  Following the incident neither Hunter or her then husband William Hunter, Sr., did not seek medical treatment for child for 36 hours despite him losing consciousness.

Billy, died on June 11.  An autopsy determined the child’s death was due to complications of remote blunt force trauma to the head and that his manner of death was Homicide.

District Attorney Matthew Fogal, authorized additional criminal proceedings charging Michele Hunter with murder.  In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a person may be tried for Homicide even after he/she has been convicted of a lesser offense for the same conduct.
