LANCASTER, PA. (WPMT) – A Lancaster man is behind bars charged in an assault this morning at a home along the 800 block of Columbia Avenue. Officers initially responded to a report of a shooting.
The victim, a 28 year old man had been struck in the head and face several times with a handgun during an altercation with Mickell Bynum, 36. Bynum then fired a single round toward the victim who suffered a gunshot wound to his hand. The victim was conscious and talking to officers before he was sent to a local hospital.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Bynum, whose last known address was in the first block of West Strawberry Street. A search of that residence turned up empty.
Detectives with the assistance of Elizabethtown Borough Police located Bynum at around 3:34 pm at a home in the borough. He was taken into custody without incident.
Charges against Bynum include Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Persons Not to Possess Firearms and Reckless Endangerment.
