mom and pop robbery

Police are looking for two men who held-up a small grocery store in York Saturday afternoon.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. at Mom and Pop Shopette on the 700-block of East Prospect Street.

The cashier, who is also the owner’s son, says he had just checked out about three or four customers, when two Hispanic men approached the counter. One of the men put a gun to his head and demanded money and cigarettes.

He gave them what they wanted and they took off.

“I’m hoping that they catch them, and hopefully they can get my Mom’s stuff back, it’s a real shame that people have to do this,” said cashier Greg Mitzel.

The store has surveillance cameras and the video captured the robbers pretty clearly. It shows the men approach the counter; one wearing a red and black jacket, the other a black zip up hoodie.

One of the men points the gun at Mitzel, the other throws a black bag or backpack onto the counter.

If you know who these men are, or have any information on the robbery, you are urged to contact York City Police at 717-846-1234.
