Some folks in York are giving to those in need-- just in time for the holidays.

A basement full of toys, clothes, and household supplies were just some of the things up for grabs at the "Neighbors for Neighbors" free giveaway event in York. The organization held the event at the Heritage Pentecostal Cathedral on East Market Street. It's able to give supplies to people in York with the help of donations from local businesses.

Organizers say it's about the community coming together-- taking action-- to help anyone in need.

"Everyone is welcome as long as they have a pulse and you make it here," Neighbors Helping Neighbors founder, Bobby Brunner said, "That's the way that we should be, helping each other. " Brunner says he will be at the church all winter long giving away clothes to help keep folks warm.

The church opened its doors to Brunner so he could continue the event, although the church is in need as well because it needs to raise $175,000 by the end of the year-- to stay open.

"We figure this, if we can do for others, help others , even if it's our last time, or our last moments, that's what we must do to help others-- preach and proclaim the gospel of Christ through doing, not just by speaking," Heritage Pentecostal Cathedral Pastor Rambler said.
