An inmate at the State Correctional Institution in Camp Hill was found hanging in his cell last Friday. Camp Hill Superintendent Laurel Harry reports inmate Mark Thomas was found by officers in his cell on the classification housing unit. Officers immediately provided first aid until facility medical personnel arrived from the infirmary. Thomas was pronounced dead at 4:16 p.m. by a staff doctor. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.
Thomas, 45, was serving a 33-year to 66-year sentence for Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse from Franklin County. He had been at SCI Camp Hill since Nov. 13, 2014.
