ADAMS COUNTY (WPMT) — A federal grand jury has indicted Jorge Salazar, of Georgia, charging him with wire fraud in a scheme in which he allegedly defrauded 10 investors from Adams County.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Salazar made $350,000 in the scheme over the course of six months. According to the indictment, Salazar presented himself as a licensed attorney and investor from Atlanta. Salazar said the funds he received were guaranteed to yield a return of three times the initial investment. However, the indictment alleges the money was never invested but rather used by Salazar for his personal needs.

Federal agents arrested Salazar on November 20 in Kentucky.

The maximum penalty is 20 years’ imprisonment, if he’s found guilty.
