Each year thousands of toys are collected around the country to help make the holidays special for children in need and this year is no different.

The 96.1 SOX Morning Crew kicked off their 17th annual Toys for Tots campaign Monday morning.

‘Santa D’ spent hours walking back and forth over the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge collecting toys in both York and Lancaster County.

He says they’re hoping a little friendly competition between the counties will encourage more people to be a part of the great cause.

Donations will help the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve provide every child in Central PA with a Christmas present.

‘Santa D’ will be broadcasting live and collecting toys at the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge until 6:00 p.m. Monday.

The remainder of the week you can catch ‘Santa D’ and the 96.1 SOX morning crew at several locations across Central PA:

Tuesday, December 9 – ‘Santa D’ will be on the rooftop at Laugerman’s Harley-Davidson at Route 30 and North Queen Street in York

Wednesday, December 10 – ‘Santa D’ will be at the Lancaster County Visitors Center on Greenfield Road just north of Route 30

Thursday, December 11 – ‘Santa D’ will be on the rooftop at Meineke Car Care Center of East York at East Market Street and Memory Lane

Friday, December 12 – ‘Santa D’ will be on the rooftop at Meineke Car Care Center on the Manheim Pike in Lancaster, just south of Route 30.

Saturday, December 13 – The grand finale will be at two locations from 9am to 6pm. Join 961SOX at the Toys R Us on Harrisburg Pike in Lancaster and at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet just off Kenneth Road in York.
