YORK CITY SCHOOLS

HARRISBURG, PA (WPMT)  A major setback for opposition of the appointment of a Receiver for the York School District.

The Commonwealth Court Pennsylvania handed down an order late Tuesday afternoon on an emergency appeal for a stay in a pending ruling by the York County Court of Common Pleas.  The high court denied the appeal by parents, taxpayers, the York NAACP, the York Education Association, and York City Professional Support Professionals Association.

In the ruling Senior J. Wesley Oler, Jr., stated he could find no justification to grant a stay and that the emergency application for a stay is denied.

York County Court President Judge Stephen Linebaugh is expected to issue a ruling on Receivership by the end of the day Christmas Eve.
