Volunteers were up bright and early Wednesday morning to help make the holidays special for families in need.
It was all part of Lancaster County’s Project for the Needy.
More than 1,500 people lined up outside of Clipper Magazine Stadium; some of them had arrived as early as 10:30 Tuesday night.
Starting at 4:00 a.m., volunteers of all ages unloaded several trucks filled with fresh food.
Then, they filled hundreds of boxes with turkey and all the trimmings needed to make a warm holiday meal.
Organizers with the Lancaster County Project for the Needy say their mission is to make sure all families in their area have food on the table Christmas Day.
This is the 28th year the organization Lancaster County Project for the Needy has been distributing turkey dinners.
