SUNSHINE RETURNS

Clouds are beginning to break this evening, and will gradually do so through the rest of the night. The winds taper this evening as temperatures drop into the 40s. By daybreak, expect only a few passing clouds. It’s a chillier start, with temperatures beginning in the upper 20s to middle 30s. The rest of the day brings plentiful sunshine and mild conditions. Highs are in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees.

TURNING UNSETTLED THROUGH WEEKEND

Saturday brings sunshine to begin the day, but an approaching cold front brings some clouds in during the afternoon. It’s still very mild, with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s throughout our region. Sunday is our next chance for some showers. It’s less mild, but still above seasonable averages with readings in the lower to middle 40s. A few flakes are possible overnight as the system exits.

COLD BLAST FOR NEW YEAR

It’s possible that we get clipped by a few rain or snow showers on Monday, but models are trending drier as of the last day. Tuesday also looks much drier too, with a potent area of high pressure working in behind Sunday’s cold front. This will knock temperatures into the upper 30s by Tuesday, with a frigid air mass in place by Wednesday (New Year’s Eve). Highs are near 30s degrees, with overnight temperatures in the frigid lower 20s. On New Year’s Day, we’re a bit warmer, with highs climbing into the middle 30s.
