An 18-year-old is now behind bars in connection with a shooting that critically injured another man in Lancaster on Monday.  Police say Christian Williams had the intention to kill.

Williams was arrested Friday morning. Police say he had plans to meet with James Ross Jr. on the 400 block of East King Street shortly before 3 p.m. Monday. That's when Williams shot Ross three times in the stomach and back -- resulting in injuries to his liver, kidney, spleen, lung and buttocks -- including three fractured ribs. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Officials collected three shell casings from the location. Police say the shooting happened in broad daylight, on a busy intersection with many people around, putting them in danger. For that reason, bail was set at $2.5 million dollars.

In a statement to FOX43, Lancaster City Police Chief Keith Sadler said in a statement: "This high bail should send a clear message that people are fed up with these types of shootings, especially when they are as brazen as this one, which happened in broad daylight."

Many people who live in the area told FOX43 there's been an increase in crime in the area.

Police say Williams did not have a license for the semi-automatic handgun used in the shooting. He remains in Lancaster County Prison.

Williams is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm on two counts and recklessly endangering another person.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 7.
