COOL DOWN BEGINS

A cold front continues to move through the area this evening, with clouds and some showers still around. The showers fade through the evening, and skies begin to clear as the cold front clears our region to the south. Overnight lows fall into the lower to middle 30s. Some clouds could linger along the state border Monday morning, otherwise most of the area sees some sunshine before clouds build back in. Colder air slowly begins to move in too as an arctic air mass begins to invade a large portion of the country. This knocks highs down in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Even colder air brings clouds Tuesday, with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the middle 30s.

COLD BLAST BEGINS 2015

High pressure settles the frigid air mass over the region by Wednesday (New Year’s Eve). Highs are near the freezing mark, with overnight temperatures in the frigid lower 20s as we ring in the New Year. On New Year’s Day, we’re still quite cold, with highs climbing into the middle 30s. Friday is dry with building clouds and a late shower possible. High temperatures are near 40 degrees.

UNSETTLED WEEKEND

Into the weekend, our next storm system brings the chance for showers, perhaps starting as a winter mix. Models are currently in disagreement on whether this storm system crosses through Saturday or Sunday. Temperatures are expected to run above seasonable averages after a chilly start.

Have a great week!
