Rep.-elect Kate Klunk (R-York) today announced the boroughs of Glen Rock and Hanover were awarded state funding under the new “Green Light-Go” program to upgrade local traffic signals to include light-emitting diode (LED) technology.

Hanover Borough will receive $39,700 to upgrade traffic signals at 21 intersections to LEDs.  In Glen Rock Borough, funding will be used to upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of routes 216 and 616.

“As a resident of Hanover Borough, I was happy to hear that our local municipalities were able to acquire funding to support important safety updates,” said Klunk. “The new technology will help improve traffic flow in our region and will help eliminate travel delays.”

In addition, Klunk reminds municipal leaders in the 169th Legislative District that PennDOT is now accepting applications for the second round of Green Light-Go funding.

The application period is open through Feb. 27, 2015. Information and application forms for the program can be found at www.dot.state.pa.us/signals.

The Green Light-Go program was made possible by Act 89, the comprehensive transportation funding plan approved by the General Assembly in 2013.
