Spring Garden TWP Bank Robbery Suspect

A father and son team accused of committing two robberies in York County and calling in a bomb threat to York Hospital were apprehended early this morning at a Lancaster County motel. Gregory Brown Sr., 54, and Gregory Brown Jr., 25, both of York, are suspects in the robbery of the Roosevelt Shell gas station in West Manchester Township on Monday and the Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union in Spring Garden Township on Tuesday.

Prior the Roosevelt Shell robbery, police say one of the Brown’s called 911 and threatened that three bombs were set to detonate at York Hospital. Police say this was meant to serve as a diversion, occupying police while the Brown’s knocked off the gas station. During that robbery, a handgun was displayed. The suspects got cash and attempted to steal the clerk’s car but were unsuccessful. They got away on foot.

In the Heritage Valley Credit Union robbery, police say a man walked into the credit union and handed a teller a note demanding money. The robber then left with some cash and was last seen on foot headed east along Kings Mill Road.

Police found out the Brown’s were were staying in a room at the Economy Inn, 2140 Lincoln Highway East, in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County. Lancaster County SERT was contacted and the hotel was surrounded by police. Officers evacuated guests from several nearby rooms. Then they called the suspect’s room. The suspects surrendered without incident.

According to West Manchester Police, had the suspects not been apprehended, there would have been more robberies.
