The York YWCA's Temple Guard Drill Team has won its share of state championships and they'll have an even bigger audience on Tuesday -- when they perform at the Inauguration Night ceremony.

The team will escort Governor-elect Tom Wolf in the Main Hall of the Hershey Lodge.

"It's an honor and we're going to represent our community very well," says director Mike Smith.

Smith started the team 15 years ago. The team is made up of 78 members, Kids from different schools around York, ages 5 to 18. It's free to join the team. In the past six years, 100 percent of its graduating members have moved on to college.

"I'm glad that we were chosen to be in something like this, that we made it this far, it's a one in a lifetime opportunity," says team member Deon Alston, 15.

Wolf previously tapped the team to perform at his primary and election night parties.

"Until they get there and understand the magnitude and see all the cameras, I think that's when they'll get it," says Smith. "Soon they'll be able to vote. To see it firsthand, I think will give them better understanding of why it's important to vote."
