Robots invaded Dallastown Area Intermediate School for the First Tech Challenge Regional Qualifier on Saturday.
30-teams of middle and high school students from across the state and the region, took part in the competition which required students to build the robots beforehand.
Students began working on the machines last year and the robots had to complete certain challenges.
"What this is about is getting kids engaged in STEM and STEB education, getting them interested in technology, engineering, mathematics and sciences so they can go into education, have educational opportunities, it also is a career selection for them too," says Thomas Zawisalak, FTC Tournament Director.
"In robotics, I think I learned a lot of teamwork and companionship about how we can include everybody, but from robotics in general I learned a lot of programming and a lot of building and a lot of CAD work," says Austin Hwa, a student participant.
The competition was sponsored by Penn State York.
